Last night on the flybridge we watched this heartwarming movie called “True Spirit”.

It was about a young 12-year-old dyslexic Australian girl who had a dream to be the youngest girl to sail around the world. She tried very hard to make it happen and ignored all the doubts other people were having about her destiny (well, she thought it was her destiny). When she turned 16, her dream officially came true.

She had her very own boat named Pink. Her journey inspired young children to follow their dreams no matter what other people said.

Her dream had down sides too. Not all dreams can be sunshine and rainbows. She also had to deal with currents, no wind, too much wind, repairs, and squalls (storms). Her boat even turtled (flipped upside down) and sank, but the keel is heavy and lifted her back up to the surface.

This was based on a true story about the youngest person to sail around the world, Jessica Watson.

Q&A

Q: How did her story make you feel?

A: If I put my mind to something, I can do ANYTHING (well maybe not fly, but I can try!)

Q: What part of the movie touched your heart the most?

A: The part when her boat flipped into the water, (Arabella was crying buckets during that part 😂😂😂)

(Wow, if you’ve watched the movie, you’d know that she IS vomit proof… )
