During the day, our captain Grant was basically also on watch most of the time even though there is someone on watch at the helm station. If the weather is bad and sea is rough, Grant will take over the shifts to make sure we are all safe.

At night, Grant would sleep in a sleeping bag on the flybridge, while the person is on watch at the helm station, so he would be able to answer questions or jump in if needed.

He doesn’t get to sleep very much during passage at all, and has to be always be on alert for changing winds, currents, squalls, fishing lines, etc. He has become an extremely competent captain and sailor and we all feel safe under his watch.
