We rented an Airbnb in La Manga Club, so that we can do major engineering and spring cleaning on the boat, in preparation of our Atlantic crossing in November. After six years, we realise we've accumulated so so much stuff. Major decluttering and clearance required.
Arabella and Alex started having 2 hours Spanish lesson at Funcarele each morning after their zoom Chinese class. The school is in the beautiful Palacio Molino. Really wonderful people running the center and the girls loved learning Spanish. Their teacher Monica is super fun and friendly. She not only teaches the girls Spanish, she also takes them around town visiting sights and trying out new foods. Miguel, the president of Funcarele and Mila have been extremely helpful and kind. Whatever we need, we ask them and they always come back with a solution!
Upon hearing that I'm an architect, Miguel took me on a walking tour of the historic area of Cartagena. Cartagena is a very beautiful town. There was ancient architecture as well as many contemporary architecture. I am very impressed. This is a town, though small, cares a lot about design and the environment.
At the marina, we met many new sailing friends. Met another family who just embarked on their sailing journey with 5 children! Our girls were so happy to meet some new friends. Had a big Braai (aka BBQ) party at the marina before many boats left the next day.
